An Ending and a Beginning

A co-worker took this picture of me completing my charting on my last day of work as a physiotherapist. I received sincere well-wishes, gifts and flowers and enjoyed lunch with co-workers who have become dear friends. It was a very, very emotional day for me and the end of a much-loved career.  I have changed jobs several times over the past fifty years, but each resignation was also an opening to a new job. Now I have to create new goals and roles as a retiree.

I can no longer call myself a physiotherapist or use PT after my name. I'm not even a PT (retired). This is the biggest change, after fifty years as a licensed practitioner. But there are new things to learn, new places to explore, new relationships to await. I will stay in touch with the friends I made in the past. I am happy to end my career on a high note, not burnt out or disillusioned. I met many inspiring patients and health professionals who taught me much about resilience and perseverance.

Here's to the future!
