Fall Foliage

Our paternal grandmother painted the lovely fall scene and gave it to the pastor of our church in Toronto in the 1960s. He and his wife have since passed away, and my Ontario brother is now the proud owner of the painting. I have a couple of paintings done by Grandma T., but this is one of her best works, in my opinion. I do love the autumn seasons in our part of the world.

I watched the sun rise at a nearby lookout above the Grand River valley in October. The fall colours were not as vibrant this year as it was very dry in August and September. But the sunlight compensated for anything lacking in the foliage.

Cool night air over the water and still-warm earth create mists in the river valley.

An afternoon walk in a nearby wood lot, a couple of weeks later, offered the chance to shuffle through ankle-deep leaves on the ground.

We don't take the dog to the woods in the summer when mosquitoes and ticks are at their peak. But after a good frost, the annoying pests are at a minimum.

I didn't inherit any artistic drawing or painting ability from my talented grandparents. Thankfully, I can capture seasonal beauty with my camera.
